Brian Wilson's Solo Career
During his Beach Boys Era

Brian released some singles during his Beach Boys era, such as the above single called Caroline No and on the Brothers label he released a single with Mike Love called Gettin Humgry. He also relased some songs under other names. Brother records was orginally creatated for brian to perform some of his creative music which Capitol records did want to release in these consevative times. Brian also worked on his first wife's group, The Honeys which we have another site for them at:

Brian even wrote songs for other groups, which in fact his first #1 song was a Jan & Dean song named Surf City. He has been called the American Motzart of modean music.

Brian's Solo Career

Well my one statement is if you like Brian's work with the Beach Boys you will love his work on all of his Solo projects!! Brian is currently working on a new album and is also Touring again!!!! . He has finished his work on his daughters album THE Wilsons and has worked on some other projects. .Below is a small reveiw of all of his solo work to date. Sweet Insanity was going to be the Name of this album which you can get on bootleg and is really worth it . This album has one of my favorites on it "The Spirit Of Rock ' N' Roll "which I think Brian should give to the Beach Boys since it is more their style than the rest of his solo work. However this album also has many other great songs on it. Someone To Love, Brian , Make a Wish, Concert Tonight, Save The Day, Smart Girls,and many other great songs.

This is an album of Brian's Favorite songs . Some of these songs where done with the Beach Boys Orginally however they have all been re-recorded on this album with new back-up singers.The Production on this album was excellent and the way the songs where slightly changed were all for the better .One song which was orginally Brian's first single "Caroline No." -(A rare single to find) and turned up on Brian's American Masterpiece "Pet Sounds" with the Beach Boys is now on this solo album. This album also includes many other great songs .This Whole World, Do it Again , The Warmth of the Sun , Wonderful ,Til I Die ,and many other great songs.

This album puts Brian back with his partner for the one and only unreleased SMILE album. This is a mellow album but very enjoyable album to listen to. Songs include :Orange Create Art,San Francisco , Sail Away , and many other good songs written by Van Dyke Parks and all sung by Brian Wilson.

Brian' Fifth Album

Imagination album was released in 1999. . It is said to be his best work since his American masterpiece album, Pet Sounds. The songs on it are: Your Imagination, She Says That She Needs Me, South American, Where Has Love Been, Keep an Eye On Summer, Dream Angel, Cry, Let Him Run Wild, Lay Down Burden, SunShine, and Happy Days Are Here Again.

b. 20 June 1942, Hawthorne, California, USA. Brian, the spiritual leader of America's most famous group the Beach Boys has received as much press and publicity for his health and mental problems over the years as has his magnificent contribution as songwriter, producer, arranger and vocalist of that group. It was suggested as early as 1965 that he was a "musical genius" and that he should go solo. He did release a solo single "Caroline, No" in 1966, but it has since been absorbed into the Beach Boys canon. For many years internal ructions have kept Wilson and his self-appointed doctor/guru/friend Eugene Landy at loggerheads with the rest of the group. Ironically Brian was the last Wilson brother to release a solo album. Brian Wilson was released in 1988 to excellent reviews with Wilson bravely appearing for the major publicity that ensued. By commercial standards it was a flop, even with the high-tech production handled by Russ Titelman, Jeff Lynne, Lenny Waronker and Andy Paley. The suite "Rio Grande" had strong echoes of his Smile period. Wilson was forced to sever his links with Landy after the rest of the Beach Boys had taken him to court. He successfully contested the ownership of his back catalogue which had been sold by his father Murray Wilson. Immediately after this Mike Love issued a writ claiming he had written 79 songs with Wilson. Sire Records rejected Wilson's second album Sweet Insanity as being "pathetic". In 1993, he was again working with Van Dyke Parks together with Andy Paley on further new songs, and, following an out of court financial settlement with Mike Love, he began writing songs with his cousin after a creative break of many years. The television documentary I Just Wasn't Made For These Times was the first in-depth interview with Wilson, and the public were at last able to make up their own mind as to his state of health. Although he was clearly enjoying singing and writing songs, there were doubts as to their quality. The accompanying Don Was -produced album failed to ignite, and so it was immediately on to the next project in the "we are going to convince you that Brian Wilson is not a spent force programme". Recorded with Van Dyke Parks, Orange Crate Art was more cohesive and was a co-project in the true sense. The album could best be described as interesting, with flashes of brilliance in songs such as "San Francisco" and the title track. Reviews were positive but any chart success proved elusive. Further good news about Wilson's health arrived with the confirmation that Wilson had moved out of California, and was living with his second wife in Chicago together with their two adopted children. He worked long and hard on Imagination, and although sales were modest he did receive an immense amount of positive reviews and goodwill. Wilson undertook a tour of the USA in 1999. The following year he embarked on the Pet Sounds Symphony tour, backed by a 55-piece orchestra.
